Kyperounda Winery

- Village
Kyperounda Winery is situated in the charming village of Kyperounda within the Limassol region of Cyprus. Established in the late 1990s, the winery's unique architecture spans three levels, ingeniously utilizing gravity to gently transport grape juice during the winemaking process.
The winery's vineyard is located in the Pitsilia area, proudly positioned at an altitude of 1400 meters, making it the highest vineyard in Europe. Benefiting from a microclimate reminiscent of Bordeaux in France, the elevated vineyard experiences cooler temperatures and a longer growing season, which contributes to the wines' exceptional complexity and rich flavors.
The carefully tended vineyard at Kyperounda Winery comprises a variety of grapes, including Xynisteri, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Gewürztraminer. Notably, the winery offers a distinctive Commandaria, a sweet dessert wine crafted from Xynisteri and Mavro grapes. Commandaria is an ancient wine style, and Kyperounda presents an exceptional example of an unfortified Commandaria, aged for six years in used French oak barrels, combining 85% Xynisteri (white) and 15% Mavro (black).
The winemaking process at Kyperounda Winery is thoughtfully designed to accentuate the unique characteristics of the grapes and express the region's terroir. Handpicked and carefully sorted grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the delicate aromas and flavors. Subsequently, the wines mature in oak barrels, adding depth and complexity to the final product.
Dedicated to sustainability, Kyperounda Winery has implemented environmentally conscious practices to reduce its impact on the surrounding ecosystem. This commitment allows the winery to produce exceptional wines while preserving the natural beauty of the region.
For those eager to immerse themselves in the beauty and flavors of Kyperounda Winery, the establishment offers enlightening tours and tastings. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the picturesque vineyard, learn about the winemaking process, and savor the exceptional wines the winery has to offer.
Kyperounda Winery stands as a true gem in the realm of Cypriot wines, boasting exceptional wines, awe-inspiring vistas, and a steadfast dedication to sustainability. Whether one is a wine enthusiast or simply seeking to relish Cyprus's natural beauty, a visit to Kyperounda Winery promises an unforgettable experience.
